MANA MACKAY

Mana Mackay is a model and creative director crafting cinematic imagery, shaped by a decade of sharp observation at the forefront of fashion. In her own words, she is a fan of beauty, contemplation and truth, and an agent of those virtues. Beginning her career in New Zealand as a teenager, Mana was recognised as the country&#39;s first transgender Māori model, and over the past decade has pioneered greater visibility and representation in fashion. Her work now extends well beyond the frame: approaching every collaboration through a creative director&#39;s lens, she shapes images and narratives with cultural insight, personal depth and bold self-expression, with ongoing editorial support from publications including Vogue Australia and RUSSH. For Mana, beauty is not decorative. She believes an image has to stand for something to be truly beautiful -&nbsp;sometimes by holding up a mirror, even to uncomfortable truths. It&#39;s a conviction that gives her work its weight: editorial, cinematic and commercially intelligent, but always in service of something considered.
